From Demo to Home

When we decided to move to an even more rural area of the Southern California mountains we were not sure what to expect.

First we needed to find a house. That proved challenging and we were on a deadline to be out of the rental by a certain date. We looked at many, many places until we found this perfect little gem in the Tehachapi mountains. Located at 4800 feet above sea level our five acre farm has two corrals (an upper and lower) with a small barn for the four chickens we brought over from the old house. The upper corral has a small goat paddock that we will enlarge (pics to come).

Here are some pics of the new place and process it took to get it to a home.

Turning this house into a home was a lot of work. We repainted, ripped out all of the carpets and flooring and replaced it all.

Even the kids helped! The boys tore out the baseboards in preparation for the new flooring and paint. It was all hands on deck as we need to get this done in one weekend so the carpet and wood floors could get done the following week. It was hard work but we made it through.

We’re pretty sure that was the easy part.
